My 5 year old daughter has struggled with recurring fever and constipation. About every 3 to 5 weeks she will get a fever, stomach pain and a headache that the doctor's can't figure out. She's had a full battalion of tests run, including blood work and a colonoscopy. Doctor says it's constipation and acid reflux and has her on meds and miralax every day. She sill has the recurring fever, even when we aren't under doctor orders to try and wean her off medication. This is a hail mary attempt at getting help for what we can test for. She's tested neg for h pylori, celiac, etc. Anyone with suggestions?

Many doctors are pretty ignorant about allergies. I had a problem that I went to several doctors about, and they didn't have a clue. When I got my allergies diagnosed, and starting on some simple diet changes, the problem cleared up. Try an elimination diet- safe foods, such as broiled chicken and plain vegetables. Make sure she has no gluten, no dairy, and nothing with citric acid (almost all candy has citric acid in it.). If she improves, then you can gradually add things back into her diet to try to isolate what she's allergic to. I know two children who had serious reactions to citric acid (watch the food labels of prepared food- EVERYTHING has citric acid as a preservative). They got over it as they got older. Get her off the medications- there will be side effects from those. If you can find a nutritionist in your area, consult that person. Unfortunately, in this country, doctors tend to just prescribe more and more medications rather than looking for the root cause.
Not enough info. But my off-the-cuff suspicions would be a food allergy, metabolic problem or lack of a particular digestive enzyme.
