Rewrite the equation 5x – 3y = –2 as a function of x
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
5x - 3y = -2
add 3y on both sides
5x = 3y - 2
divide by 5 on both sides
x = 3/5 y - 2/5

Expand and solve for y 3y - 2 ( x + 1 ) = y + 3 ( x + 6 ) 3y - 2x - 2 = y + 3x + 18 2y = 5x + 20 y = (5/2)x + 10 QED
5x-3y = -2
5x = 3y-2
5x+2=3y
y = 5/3 x + 2/3
5x-3y 2
5x-3y=-2
-3y=-5x-2
y=3x/5+2/3
just isolate the x to one side
5x – 3y = –2
x = (3y - 2) / 5 or x = 3/5y - 2/5
your welcome
5x-3y= -2
5x=3y-2
x=(3y-2)/5
y is the function of x!
so,
y = (5/3)x + (2/3)
or another way to say it is this way
y(x) = (5/3)x + (2/3)
Isolate x. Do your own homework.
