(2 • 3 + 8)^2
Super easy problem but the Order of operations PEMDAS is throwing me off a little with the parenthesis. Any help would be great. Thanks
Alright let me explain.
FIRST
You do the things inside the parenthesis. Since you have multip. and addition, you do mult. first. This gives you
(6 + 8) ^2
Then you add the insides and get
(14) ^2
which gives u 196
well first do the parenthesis: the "by" operation is the first so first is 2*3=6, then sum them and 6+8=14
then 14^2=196
Use PEMDAS, and the first thing you do is inside of the parentheses, so apply PEMDAS again, but just in the inside of the parentheses.
(6 + 8)^2
(14)^2
196
BEDMAS [Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, then Subtraction]
First, you solve the things in the bracket:
(2 x 3 + 8)^2
[do the multiplication first, because multiplication comes before addition in BEDMAS]
= (6 + 8) ^2
= (14)^2
[now you solve for the exponent]
[14squared is the same as 14 x 14]
= 196.
Order of operation
First
what inside practices
Second

Third
multiply and divide
Forth
add and subtract
For your question
focus on what inside Order of operation
what inside prentices
focus on what inside prentices
2 * 3 + 8
multiply
6 + 8
now add
14
Now the question becomes
14^2
14 * 14
PEMDAS
2*3 = 6+8 = 14^2 =196
that's if the ^ is square.
start in the parenthesis so multiply first, thus (6 +8)^2
start in the parenthesis again, so (14)^2
14 squared is 196
don't give up.
196?
(2 x 3 + 8)(2 x 3 + 8)
(6 + 8)(6 + 8)
(14)(14)
196 o.O
