Agreed! The justice system is far from fair in my opinion. I have always thought that.child molesters,rapists and murderers do little time. There has been so many cases where they let the rapists out as early as 3 months and they do it again! It doesn't take a genius to know that is not long enough and why wouldn't they do it again if they just get a slap on the wrist?. They would rather put people in jail for years for selling marijuana. Today, it seems like everything is about money and everything is a55backwards.

Third, destroying THOUSANDS OF PEOPLES lives is worse than murdering just one. 3 murders = 3 times life or 3 times death penalty.

And whatever Madoff did, theres' no death penalty for stealing, but murder, yeah could.

Fourthly on the child rape, what happened? Was there just peeking, or also touching and penetration? Was the child old enough to remember? Very different things.

Because society hates the rich and that is why. Madoff got rich and so people hate him for that. Sure it was a scam, but a fool and their money are soon parted. Will they see their money back NO, will the families of the ones murdered or raped have them back, NO. Just society hates the rich more than they hate child molesters and murderers.

So what does society place more value on when they become outraged towards the rich but ignore the molested and murdered? They place value on the all mighty dollar, just sad truth.

Our priorities have become personal peace and prosperity. The prosperity is not bad in itself because it can be used to help others. The other part of the equation though (personal peace) makes the priority very selfish.

The "American Way of Life" is to work hard and stay faithful to certain truths that do not change with relativism, like: Honesty, Loyalty, Generosity, Self-control and faith in the Creator who gave us our liberty.

I could not agree more. The Justice system is completely out of wack. I'm no defender of Madoff, but when I hear of a child molester getting 3months and a year probation, I can't help but shake my head.

Madoff didn't just rip off some rich people. He ripped off a lot of people from a lot of different walks in life. He ripped off municipal retirement funds. His victims numbered over a thousand, which is why he was given such a steep sentence. It isn't a sign of America losing its priorities and values.

First of all, you are asking in Politics. In the US, we used to have a common morality, and yes, even Democrats had it and followed it. I don't think it's legit to ask a question like this as a liberal.

What's wacked is that Americans are confused today about the value of a human life, which is why you don't understand why child molesters "walk." And that's on libs, because they are the ones who think they can determine the worth of another life.
