Successive government administrations have had a stubborn attitude towards drugs by allowing a lot of of it to flow into our streets and poor neighborhoods.
Then, the punitive, (war on drug addicts) laws kick in which enables law enforcement authorities to kidnap/detain and warehouse poor or undereducated addictive personality people via the Prison Industrial Complex.
There is no war on drugs, it's a war on poor addictive personality people who happen to be minorities.
White addicts typically are offered drug rehab programs vice punitive abusive incarceration within the PIC.
Drug addict punishment is justified for the most absurd convoluted capitalist excuses, drug rehab costs less than incarceration, but prison profitability takes precedence over compassionate addiction recovery in the US.
So much for the absurd sound bite of "compassionate conservatism".
The war on a war tactic is a war on gullible people's fears.
People who constantly feed and digest fear-centric rhetoric from the dominate regressive media bias fringe, are consistently ignorant of what is actually taking place in reality.
Blow-back comes to mind here as small scale destructive attacks on US interests are directly related to our US Gov meddling overtly and covertly in foreign affairs which rarely benefit US citizens interests, but usually only benefit the corporate masters who control our Gov.
Therefore, frightened conditioned people are more likely to be afraid of the most non-threatening issues, no matter how benign in context.
Like religious, sexual, racism, equality and arrogant wealth tax avoidance lightning rod wedge issues.
You can't force people to become objective or expect them to overcome years of regressive media bombardment done to frighten and scare them into voting against their own best interests by voting regressive.
All that can realistically be done, is to chip away, piece by piece at regressive control freak lies.
This isn't going to happen by itself since regressive lies are very popular and highly addictive since they appeal to hatred, class/race guilt and revenge fantasies by the something for nothing anti-liberty hate-monger RWA identity crowd.
The War on Drugs has helped, and so has the War on Terror.
The War on Drugs is conducted at the level of 3% efficiency, and 97% inefficiency. The focus is in all the wrong areas -- all the politically correct areas, like giving lots of money to very unreliable South American banana republics so they will play along with us and pretend to be fighting drugs. A lot of their law enforcement people have died, so I'm not saying those countries are insincere, or that they take US money and then do nothing. I'm saying they lack talent to get the job done, and after 30 years we might have noticed that by now and rated their reliability at about 3%, which is truthful. But PC is a mental illness that blinds those who suffer from it. So we just keep ladelling on the money and the slaughter proceeds.
If we ever decided to not be so PC, but the actually win the drug war, we would focus on interdiction. We would pass a law saying that drug smuggling was an attack on the national security of the USA and that any vessel, plane or vehicle that fails to identify and obey DEA commands in any location anywhere in the world is subject to being vaporized instantly, end of story.
We would also say that all property owned by drug kingpins anywhere in the world is subject to be vaporized instantly, and all money owned by them is subject to confiscation.
The UN would do some howling -- that's OK. We can withdraw from any treaties on 6 months notice. So we could just start withdrawing from treaties they love until they stop howling at us.
Now, it USA versus the drug kingpins, no lackeys, peons, stooges, or imbeciles in the line of fire. No foreign enforecement "officials".
It's the US Air Force and US Navy and Coast Guard against the Evil Doers. A nice clean fight, no bozos in the way. I say we can take em. I say we can kill 90% of them, and destroy 95% of their equipment, drugs, and other property. We can make them mostly dead and mostly destitute.
The economy in the US is not that great. So all the users in USA who can afford to pay $10,000 per gram for their drugs -- let them do it -- go to Las Vegas, have a snort, whatever. I wouldn't legalize anything except marijuana in those states that want it, but I would stop spending big bucks on domestic enforcement. At $10,000 per gram, there just won't be that much business being done. Could you afford it? Our domestic bad guys would go into pimping or running numbers or more available forms of contraband. The drug biz would be dead.
War on Terror -- so far so good, no major attacks in USA since 9/11, that pretty much says it all. Again, a lot of money is wasted because the FBI and DHS are drunk on Political Correctness. If they cut out some of that multi-culti sensitivity stuff the same or better security results could be obtained much more efficiently, but I'm not complaining -- no major attacks -- a pretty good record for 10 years of work.
That said, it must also be said that most of our attackers in that time period were true bunglers of the most butter-fingered persuasion. If they had worn rubber ice cream cones straped to their foreheads, they could hardly have been more clowny.
We can't count on facing bunglers only for the next ten years.
Bottom line -- If they expunged 95% of the PC mental illness from FBI and DHS we would be in better shape going forward into a more challenging decade (2011-2021)
Please don't ask Mentats a question if YOU ARE JUST NOT READY FOR THE TRUTH!
The reason the War on Drugs and on Terror isn't 100% effective, is the Press flies over to these Terrorist Countries and posts their Countries pictures of attrocities in our Newspapers they caused for themselves by attacking us and propagandizing the whole event as them being the true victims. The sad thing about it is the Bleeding Heart Liberals who hate America and find fault in every World tragedy making it our full responsibility, give comfort and aid to the enemy by assisting their efforts to discredit our appropriate response. This is similar to what Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War, by taking a photo opportunity and sitting on a Anti-Aircraft gun in the North Vietnamese camp to protest our involvement in the Vietnam War. This was to protest that AmericanSoldiers were just there killing babies and not fighting any soldiers that were trying to kill them as well. Jane Fonda was never put up on charges as she should have been, "Giving comfort and Aid to the Enemy' which is TREASON.
The War on Drugs is and should be a no Brainer at all. The Countries that allow Drugs to flow out of their Countries unoppoosed, will not be allowed Free trade with our Country and it's citizens will not be allowed to travel here. I realize even Republican Presidents have had a policy of turning their backs on certain activity, to allow for more profitable seizures to take place. But this has weakend the Worlds resolve to take our Government seriously because it seems to get here anyway unopposed. I think that ALL drug dealers Foreign or Domestic should be emediately sentenced to death when they are found to be guilty. It is truly Liberals distaste for executions that weaken this stance and make the rest of the World laughing as they continue Farming their Poppy Fields.
The World is an ugly place and we need to show no exceptions or ANY tolerance for these acts of violence against or own people, whether it be importation of Narcotics or Terrorism which are the same anyway as far as I am conserned......................
funny that you pick on the Republicans when both parties have been "fighting"? these 'wars' for, I'm gonna guess, longer than you have lived;; terrorists did not start their 'plague' on 9/11 my dear...& the fact that no state in this country will follow their OWN rules about immigration, doesn't help either fact;; illegal immigrants should be held responsible for their illegalities..there were laws already established that have not been followed for decades..& we all know that the majority of drugs come from the south, yet everyone has this 'poor, poor people' routine including racial profiling that hasn't helped matters in the least....it's truly not 'grandma' that should be manhandled in the airports...& sorry to say, but their are certain profiles that fit the lists of terrorists & drug smugglers...
The war on drugs has put many people into jail for doing something that only effects them (and we still have the nerve to call America the land of the free).
The war on terror, on the other hand, has helped us. We have stop serval major terrorist attacks since 9/11. Be against the war that's up to you, but don't deny all the attacks we have stopped.

The American people have lost the war on drugs. What does that say for the war on terror?
The war on drugs has put many people into jail for doing something that only effects them (and we still have the nerve to call America the land of the free).
The war on terror, on the other hand, has helped us. We have stop serval major terrorist attacks since 9/11. Be against the war that's up to you, but don't deny all the attacks we have stopped.
I don't see the current Democrat controlled administration trying to end the war on drugs. Why isn't Obama decriminalizating pocession of marijuana?
Is is a big failure of both. Still fighting a lost battle.
I'm fine with keeping addicts and terrorists off the streets and behind bars.
Let's increase taxes to do it too.
They cost us a lot of wasted money and time.
