Or was Bush right when he said:
"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

it should definitely be repealed!
Yes, please! As a libertarian, I never supported the Patriot Act. It's horrible.
The final Act, however, wisely included a number of sunsets which were to expire on December 31, 2005. I say, repeal the rest.
Your quote is not genuine. While the Patriot Act does show a certain incongruity with Constitution, Bush never said the words you cut and pasted from Capitol Hill Blue.
As a War Powers document, the Patriot Act was actually pretty weak, BTW. While I do not support placing additional powers in the hands of the executive branch, it could have been worse (and has been much worse under previous administrations). At least Bush didn't usurp privately held gold, place American citizens into internment camps, and serve four terms like the Democrat president FDR did.
Maybe you shoudl have listened to what Obama actually said, instead of the bs coming from the far right. Obama never said he wanted Congress to repeal the Patriot Act (he -- the president -- does not have the authority to repeal laws). He said he would push for changes to insure searches and surveillance were governed by proper oversight under the Constitution. Which he did adn thos echanges were made. The unrestricted blank check to spy on law-abiding Americans Bush and you conservatives demanded was removed.
Whew, still a lot of people out there under the influence of the Bush/Cheney brainwashing.
Judging from what I've seen, most of these people have no better understanding of the Constitution than their FOX talking heads have, which is pretty dismal.
Repubs all have the same talking points (ie quoting the Lewan Group findings--never mind the Lewan Group is wholly owned by a health insurance company) that they repeat over and over so that the dim witted ultra right segment of the party can remember them.
Yes. And get rid of everything related with FISA. It's a huge Constitutional violation, and to boot, it has served no purpose except to make it difficult to make business trips. Any terrorist could just wander in through Mexico, no problem. The Patriot Act is offensive.
A president who says that is a piece of garbage & a traitor...Bush should really be ashamed of himself. Of course the Patriot Act should be repealed, it IS unconstitutional!!!!
The Patriot Act has a "sunset clause" that requires it be brought before Congress periodically for review as to its necessity. I seriously doubt that health care reform will have such an option for the country. Just like the disasters that are Medicare and Social Security, once it's law, we're stuck with it.
Yes it should, What makes you think I agreed with it in the first place?
Just cause I'm conservative doesn't mean I goose step right behind my president all the time like some people >.>
Before I answer, tell me your "favorite" way it violates The Constitution. My wager is you have no idea.
Next:
The "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!" "quote" is according to Doug Thompson, people quoting Doug Thompson and NO ONE ELSE. Even Thompson doesn't CLAIM to be aware of ONE person who claims they actually heard this. Read his story. He says something like "somebody told me they heard about someone who heard this." A lesson: That IS liberals' standard of "journalism" if it makes their point. Look at your first link. See all the media outlets repeating this story despite it lacking ANY source?
Yes.
He never said that. The original source is Capitol Hill Blue (Some Liberal Rag. At least sounds like it.)
