need help on a gun review Remington® 30-06 Whitetail Pro® Model 770 Rifle?
Is the Remington® 30-06 Whitetail Pro® Model 770 Rifle a good gun, i'm looking into purchasing one. I just would like to get some feed back on the gun.
Ive heard several say its a junk gun. i have no experience with it. I do know there are beter rifles on th market though for same type of money. The new Ruger American Rifle has a lot of features fo the money and im considering one myself. Its got aa spuperior 3 lug bolt for lower bolt lift to clear scopes. Its got a rotory mag and a savage like accutrigger but rugers version. The barrel is floated with a nice recoil pad and a tan safty. They retail under $400. A lot of rifle for the money. If marlin XL7 had a mag they would be a good option to but some people dont care if ty have to lad from top. I dont remember what it was on the 770 but im thinking there was a part that breaks on them commonly. If yu want a Remington get a mod 700 used or new is better than 770.

Can't recommend the 770,has a poor bolt cycle,so-so trigger assembly, cheap feeling plastic stock with molded inserts for sling clips that break and you can't fix. The 770 has a press fit receiver barrel assembly so there isn't any chance of working with the rifle if anything happens. The other aspect is that they are so low priced there is ZERO resale value and it isn't a rifle you pass down to your kid. The Savage Axis takes a very similar approach and gets it right better than Rem.
The 700 is a better design, and Cabela's will sometimes sell at $400-$450 for ADLs in the system and $500-$600 for SPS. At that higher price I start looking at Tikka,T/C Venture, other rifles. I've seem Browning A-Bolts at $500-$600 that are a much better value than a Rem at similar prices. Ruger makes good rifles, but a better comparison to the 700 value wise is the Weatherby Vanguard and the Savage 110 series entry level models.

Avoid that Remington 770. If you can't afford a Rem 700. get a Savage, Marlin, or Mossberg.
No,
the Model 700 is better./
