The problem: I want to loose some weight, i have this considerable belly, and im approx. 10 kg over my minimum weight (about 6 kg from ideal weight)
So. I've been excersising for a couple of months now, and it has worked pretty good so far. But searching for more and better ways, i understood quickly that a diet is needed for actual huge changes (say, getting a six pack)
So i went to a nutriologist. Gave me my diet and away we go. BUT, he gave me the unexpected advice to considerably lower my excersice rutines. This is how:
My routine daily included ab work, moderate weightlifting (bout 12 lbs dumbells i used the most) And doing what i thought most important: cardio. I did this on a fixed bike for about an hour, with all the resistance on, and doing different intensity intervals. (forgot the name of that, sorry, i got full motion before the end and stuff like that) I burned around 500 Kcal with this (bike)
Now, he told me to forget both resistance and intensity, cause i would only burn muscle on the long run. So he told me to do just half an hour of bike, no resistance. This barely is any work for me, i dont get tired at all. And hey, i know getting tired is no "you-are-doing-great" indicator, but i dont burn that many calories with this, and thanks to this i've gotten pretty strong legs, im afraind to loose them too.
But the real question here is if any of you knows if he is right? Should i follow this advice? I know he is a great nutriologist, I really want to follow his diet, but the excercicing advices he give me, shed a little doubt.
If he turns out to be right, could you explain me why?
Oh, and just in case its important, my caloric need apparently is 600 Kcal lower than it should be (should be around 2500, mine is 1900 and something)
Thanks in advance
Update:whoops, sorry for typos, its readeable.

hes a nutritionist, not a trainer. nutritionists really only know half of what it takes to get in shape. they just know how to get you leaner or bigger. im a trainer and a competitive bodybuilder and i can tell you that you HAVE to work out to see good gains. he doesn't know your body, and neither do i. but i can tell you that working out will more than double your gains.
the bike is a good idea, maybe not going for as long though. ide say half an hour with half the intensity. or if you want to try something new...try the HIIT method. its short and works much better...http://www.gymmonsters.com/pages/hiitarticle.html
also, your training should probably be circuit training if your trying to lose weight and tone up. so go with light to moderate weight and do your reps slowly to feel the muscles working.
to learn more about fitness and exercises...check out the link i gave you or just go to the one in the source. plenty of things for you to learn about getting into good shape. GOOD LUCK!
I am not sure why he would tell you no resistance, you need some to exert yourself. I cycle alot and found that if you have a high cadence with a lower resistance it helps to burn fat and my legs don't get tired as much. If you pedal at a slower rate with high resistance it is more like lifting weights and you are using your muscles in a different way. I would try pedaling at 70 rpm's or higher with just enough resistance to cause your breathing to increase to where you can still talk but not sing. Your legs should not hurt, if they start to, back of on the resistance but keep the rpm's high.
This is cardio so you can do it as long as you want.
This link is for cycling but the theory is the same.

Lol. She probably said that because you're over weight. I wouldn't pay her no mind.

And don't stop exercising. Idk what the hell she was talking about, lol. And if you eat junk food or Candy or Sugary Sweets or Coffee soda stuff like that, just lay off it. If you do you will go through withdrawal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal
Its as simple as that my friend. You might loose all the weight ina week if you follow the diet exactly and drink enough water. :)
My wife was 240lbs 5'1'' now shes 185lbs. Most of the weight she lost the first couple of months cause i was busting her chops to follow it. I laid off her because she couldn't deal with the withdrawal, lol. But shes still loosing 8 months later!
actually you need the weights and the resistance training to swell up the muscles,,but seriously you really dont need more than 30 mins of cardio a day...thats definitely true!
