Military Science ARMY ROTC “Cadet” vs. “Student”?

I’m an incoming college freshman at a tiny college in the middle of nowhere. I signed up for Army ROTC because, ideally, after I get my bachelors degree I’ll join either the Army or the Navy, and get a few years of medical experience under my belt, then go to medical school. I signed up with the intent of doing ROTC for 1-2 years to get the discipline down, understand the way everything works, and more or less decide if I’m cut out to serve. I just received my schedule and I’m signed up for mil sci two days a week (2.5 hours each day) but I’m not signed up for any PT courses. I’m not really sure if I need to be in a PT course my first year, so I’m trying to figure out if I’m classified as a cadet or a student? Also, if I’m a “student” taking mil sci will I be in uniform or civilian clothes? Thank you for any answers you can provide!!
