But this is more than the 600 that were surveyed. Subtract that to find that there must have been 17 men that were in the overlap of having both a beard and a moustache.

Men with mustache plus men with beard = 85 + 49 = 134 men
134 - 117 = 17 men with both mustache and beard
Provided, of course, the numbers aren't skewed by any men with muttonchop sideburns.
If you multiply the radius by the infraction point, the answer yields 14.5
