I’m a senior attending highschool in Washington state. I’ve heard rumors of my district planning on reopening to full 5 days a week in-person school. Currently, we are doing a hybrid method with 2 days a week and separate cohorts. There was also an option for online school, but only at the semester’s end, because online classes are different entirely and you cannot switch between hybrid and online without changing courses. This option is gone, as the semester has passed. Can my district legally enforce mandatory 5 days a week in-person school if Im not comfortable with that in regards to the pandemic?

there is no settled law in this area -- too new. To escape this, you'll probably need your physician's written diagnosis that you are at high risk for CV19 and it will need to cite the specific reason [example: you are on a specific immune system compromising medication or suffer from an immune system compromising medical condition]. that you and/or your family is fearful of CV19 is not sufficient. -- grampa
To the person who said that I don’t want to go back to school- no. I quite enjoy school really. With all due respect, the vast majority of kids want to return to school; I am no exception. I have friends who have lost their grandparents to covid. I do not want this to happen to me. Just because MY age group is not vulnerable, does not mean I should be reckless during a pandemic. I appreciate your response.
Sure they can. Numbers are WAY down, and your age group is not really vulnerable to the virus. You're just making excuses because you want to stay home. Our kids have been back in school for over a month, and nothing has happened- not cases among students, no spike, no negative consequences. Get back to school- you'll enjoy seeing your friends.
