It seems that there is a mistake (error) in my Mandarin Text book:
I modified the original scentence "A" to give two possible replacements "B" and "C"
A) "Nǐ wàng qiánbiān zǒu yì tiáo jiē",... = Go straight up this street
But I think the scentence should be written:
B) "Nǐ wàng qián zǒu yì tiáo jiē", but given the English translation above, I belive it should be changed further to:
C) "Nǐ wàng qián zǒu zhège jiē (lù)"
{I am teaching myself Mandarin, so don't have a teacher to ask}
Thank you very much.

It is not an error. 前边 means 前面 which means 'in front'. The sentence A: 你往前边走一条街 means Walk (for a distance of) one street ahead. Sentence B: 你往前走一条街 is acceptable too.
If it is meant to be 'Go straight up this street' as you had written, it would be 从这条街往前边走。
往should be in the third tone, but you had written it as the fourth tone. The 边 in 前边 should be a neutral tone (or light tone) which means that when written as Hanyu Pinyin, it should not have any intonation. Roads, paths, lanes etc is always 条 and not 个.
The correct sentence should be: zhe tiao jie wang qian [or qian-bian] zou, which literally means "This street go straight"
Qian-bian: straight side
In A, it translated to: You go straight to the next street.
B is the closest to what most native Chinese will say, but it shifted from the original English meaning.
C is obviously English-style Chinese because the measure word for street is "tiao", not "ge". Yet, Chinese people still understand what you're trying to say :)
