As a Christian, I don't want compulsory Christian prayers in public schools because Christians can't even agree on how to pray. Catholics would want the Protestants to get on their knees and make the sign of the cross and say a few Hail Mary's and the Protestants would think they'd go straight to hell for doing it. Non-Trinitarians would flip out if they were forced to hear anything about the Father or the Holy Ghost. Trying to keep it non-denominational would be a full time job keeping everybody happy, considering there are over 40,000 different denominations of Christianity.

The United States of America is not and has never been a "Christian" nation! You should put on your thinking cap and actually read the First Amendment to the Constitution as well as the supporting Jefferson Papers on the wisdom and rule for having a "wall" (a separation) between State and Church to become more enlightened on the simple truth that America is a glorious MELTING POT where folks of ALL faith choices receive equal protections under the law. Our founding fathers were fleeing extremist Protestant persecution when they came to our shores, and by deliberate design these founding fathers made sure that no one's religion could be given preference or priority over any other faith choice. It is so...and so it is.
Why do you speak only to "Liberals"? This is a matter of significance to all Constitutional scholars and Americans.
Did you even read the Snopes article? It said the claim that Islamic prayer would be required is FALSE. The claim that students would be required to learn about Islam is more or less true. Our military has been murdering muslims for almost 30 years, so maybe we should learn about them.
Then move out of Canada.
