I´m moving back to the US next month, Living in spain at the moment. I was wondering if it would be possible?
to bring say a 30 pack of beer back for friends to enjoy. could I bring that in my suit case and get the back checked or would they confiscate it. The beer here is amazingly delish.
If you're of age and it doesn't contain anything illegal/against your state's laws, then you're allowed to bring beer back.
"Alcoholic Beverages
One liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in your exemption if:
You are 21 years old.
It is for your own use or as a gift.
It does not violate the laws of the state in which you arrive.
Federal regulations allow you to bring back more than one liter of alcoholic beverage for personal use, but, as with extra tobacco, you will have to pay duty and Internal Revenue Service tax.
While federal regulations do not specify a limit on the amount of alcohol you may bring back for personal use, unusual quantities are liable to raise suspicions that you are importing the alcohol for other purposes, such as for resale. CBP officers are authorized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to make on-the-spot determinations that an importation is for commercial purposes, and may require you to obtain a permit to import the alcohol before releasing it to you. If you intend to bring back a substantial quantity of alcohol for your personal use, you should contact the port through which you will be re-entering the country, and make prior arrangements for entering the alcohol into the United States.
Also, you should be aware that state laws might limit the amount of alcohol you can bring in without a license. If you arrive in a state that has limitations on the amount of alcohol you may bring in without a license, that state law will be enforced by CBP, even though it may be more restrictive than federal regulations. We recommend that you check with the state government before you go abroad about their limitations on quantities allowed for personal importation and additional state taxes that might apply.
In brief, for both alcohol and tobacco, the quantities discussed in this booklet as being eligible for duty-free treatment may be included in your $800 or $1,600 exemption, just as any other purchase would be. But unlike other kinds of merchandise, amounts beyond those discussed here as being duty-free are taxed, even if you have not exceeded, or even met, your personal exemption. For example, if your exemption is $800 and you bring back three liters of wine and nothing else, two of those liters will be dutiable. Federal law prohibits shipping alcoholic beverages by mail within the United States."
To the people who say to "hide" it in clothes... no. That will do nothing. They can clearly and obviously see it when it passes through the x-ray machines. It is best not to lie because if you're caught, you could face hefty fines and (possibly) jail time.
I live in the suburbs an hour from Melbourne but i'm going there a few days every week for uni for the last few years. It is continuously been quality for me. I heard it gets a little bad on saturday nights however thats it. I feel it's an awfully trustworthy city. I imply there's crime all over however it seems beautiful low in Melbourne. I've walked around Melbourne hundreds of times at 9-10pm, and gone on the train house to the suburbs and nothing even reasonably crime associated happened to me or in my presence. Its a beautiful smooth city as cities go and the traffic is without doubt now not as bad as gigantic cities like ny or anything. Also its no longer very crowded.. In new york that you can barely walk down the road sometimes, enormous lines to simply walk right into a store... We dont have that crisis in Melbourne. It has plenty of eating places, cafes, looking, amusement like reside music, live shows, sports and so forth. Additionally in the internal city suburbs there are a lot of restaurants and bars and places for enjoyment as good. Some suburbs are nicer than others.. Some are ritzy and leafy and some are extra industrial looking.. North and west has various industrial elements shut-ish to the city. Each suburb is somewhat one of a kind. Melbourne is almost the seaside (port phillip bay) however the excellent shorelines are extra away like mornington peninsula, pleasant ocean rd and so forth. Also Melbourne is not too a ways of a drive to fine typical scenery, camping areas and so forth. The town additionally has a few satisfactory tremendous gardens and the royal botanic backyard, we also have the yarra river which runs via the city and is lined by bushes in some ingredients. I dont like city lifestyles, i like more of rural/country areas.. But Melbourne is a best metropolis so far as cities go. Additionally i love Victorian climate. I dont like boiling sizzling sweaty tropical weather, that character above is perpetually complaining about melb weather however they dont appear to appreciate thats purely their opinion and option... Discontinue calling it crappy weather just on the grounds that you dont find it irresistible. I think its excellent climate - theres a little of type however its in general lovely mild and at ease! I hate tropical climate, it makes me believe unwell sincerely, gives me complications and makes me suppose so tired and gross. Melbourne isnt even bloodless and it's not very wet or something. Most days are slight and sunny.
I'd say pack it. If you're really not allowed then they'll be confiscated. but if they don't find it, (IE if you pack it in the middle of a lot of clothes or something) then you'll be able to have a couple of beers with your friends.
Sounds weird, but I think it would be possible. Hope they won't make you pay over luggage cuz otherwise it will be very expensive beer Lol. Just in case call information and ask your airline is my suggestion.
