Russell wrote his first publication of the "Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence" in 1879.
Russell no longer considered himself a “Adventist” or “Millerite” but considered their movements of God. He viewed these movements as fulfillment of the “Midnight Cry” that the “Bridegroom cometh” in the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. Russell held that Christ came invisibly in 1874.
The JW's talk of bad light and "New Light" when they need to change their teachings, how did Russell tell that Christ came invisibly in 1874.
How did he later decide that was wrong and after the 1914 end of the current times failed a few years later he declared that Christ came in 1914.
As a matter of interest, Russell discovered the date of 1914 from the measurement of a passage way of the great Pyramid with his use of Pyramidiolgy.
Pyarimidology was later labeled by the WBTS as from Satan, thereby admitting that the WBTS had been teaching how to follow Satan for some years.
So again how could the Faithful and Discrete Slave get Christ's arrival wrong when Christ was there to tell him all about it?

There is only going to be 370 years in the time of the end that bible
prophecy can be going on, will Mr. Russell or the Jw's be the only
ones to know that? It sure looks that way. No one come on here
boasting about others being able to understand any thing going
on as to the word of God. The KJV Bible is only 400 1.2 years
old in 2012 CE, how old will it be at the second coming of Christ
Jesus. If Jw's was dead wrong, or if they were one hundred
percent correct, who would it make a difference to anyway?
First off Russell never changed the Parousia of Jesus from 1874 to 1914. Russell expected the Little Flock to be complete by 1914. 1914 was never thought to have anything to do with the coming. It was always taught to be the end of Gentile Times.
Yes he used the pyramid, but that is not how he found 1914, it was by time parallels. If you read Volume 2 the Time is at Hand of Studies in the Scriptures you will see where he came up with it. He also used the dates described in Daniel chapter 12 to arrive at 1874 and the fact that it was six thousand years from the creation of Adam.
I may not know what the JWs teach, but I do know what Russell taught as I have read pretty much all he wrote. You too can read it, it is all available on line.
Edit:
Jene--I have no idea what you just said. It was William Miller who first started looking for Jesus to return. The Bible had been in sackcloth and ashes as no one was allowed to own one because of the Catholic Church--so the 1260 years had to come to an end and then Bibles were printed for all people to have. The Catholic Church didn't preach the second coming because their false doctrines had all but done away with the need for him to return. The Pope was God on earth, and man was immortal and went immediately to heaven or hell--so they didn't have to wait for Jesus to come to raise the sleeping saints.
