Jesus was very "successful". The reason there is still sinning isn't because of the lack of "success" on Jesus' part, but because of mankind. God gave us all free will. If we sin, it is because we choose to sin. Because Jesus died for us, all we have to do is sincerely ask for forgiveness of our sins and avoid committing the same sin again, and we shall be forgive.
Jesus took upon Himself the sins of all mankind whilst suffering in the Garden - this is the Atonement; the mistake many make is to see the death on the cross as the only part of the sacrifice - this part enables us to be resurrected.
Now, to the continued sinful nature of man:
We must repent of our sins to be full partakers in the entire sacrifice of the Saviour. We sin, we repent and so on. We get forgiven and our sins are remembered no more!
Jesus should only make one go around concerning dying on the cross, he made his sacrifice, now we must use our FREE will to repent from our sinning and try to live a life close to Jesus. It's hard though, but we must try our best.
Jesus (peace be upon him) was a great prophet of God. However, he did not die for our sins. We are each accountable for our deeds, and on the "day" of judgement, we will each be judged for what we did in this life. It's all a big test. What we do in this life determines where we will spend eternity.
No His death and resurrection covered everything. Now it is up to you to seek His forgiveness and to repent. You must seek God to have that gift of salvation

H didn't die so people would stop sinning.
He died to provide forgiveness for those sins.
No need for Him to try again. He knows we (as people) always have and will continue to always sin. No one will ever be perfect; only Him.
It is by God's grace that He sent His son; for those who believe will be saved and granted everlasting life.
He's been and continues to be very successful.
