http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hi-Fi-Stereo-Audio-Ampli... would that work?
"Old" is relative.
What is old to you may be relatively new to someone else.
Speakers rated at 3 ohms have been used for decades,
most recently in boomboxes and "mini stereo systems".
Most ordinary amplifiers are designed to drive speakers
with impedances between 4 and 16 ohms.
While an amplifier capable of driving a 4-ohm load would work,
it would be better to use one rated for 2 ohms,
which leaves you with very few options:
Most amplifiers of that sort are very powerful car-stereo components,
and boombox speakers are incapable of handling that much energy.
Additionally, powering car stereo amplifiers anywhere other
than in a motor vehicle is a lot more trouble than it's worth.
In other words, unless the speakers are really good ones (which is unlikely),
there isn't much good in trying to use them for anything other than
the equipment they were originally supplied with.
3.2 ohm speakers are from the tube (valve) era and are not made to be high fidelity. you can use any amp with them but they will sound marginal.
