What your mom is saying is she doesn't want to pay for a data package, which has nothing to do with WiFi, and since this is a data/smart/internet phone you have to get a data package if you have this phone.

nhvogt A) Don't post if you aren't going to be helpful, B) Verizon doesn't carry the iPhone, and C) the iPhone is a data phone also. Read the post and quit embarrassing yourself.
Also, the iPhone is an over hyped PoS locked on one of the worst networks in the nation, who cares if the coverage is greater, you can cover your floor in crap and save yourself a lot of money from tiling, but its still crap.

It's at it
No major network will activate a data phone on their network without a data plan to back it up, this changed was effective as of last year, you can buy all the phones you want, but if you don't activate it the phone will not dial. Learn the carrier policies. This was implemented to stop people from buying phones like this, then going onto the internet and claiming they didn't know to get out of a $100+ phone bill.
It requires a data package when bought with a 1 or 2 year contract. If you are buying it outright (at full retail price which is around $450 - $550) then you don't have to add the data package, but the MotoBlur will not work. Moto Blur is just an app that let's you keep up with all your social networking sites (updates, pics, links, pages, etc in one area... like a combo page for everything) The WiFi is available regardless. That's just a feature the phone comes with no matter what (like a phone comes with a camera, no matter what). And even if the data were blocked, you'd still be able to connect when you were in an area that had a wireless connection (which is what WiFi is).
A) Learn proper grammar. B) Get an iPhone and quit embarrassing yourself you ****
