"But Jehovah himself took delight in crushing him; he made him sick. If you will set his soul as a guilt offering, he will see his offspring, he will prolong [his] days, and in his hand what is the delight of Jehovah will succeed." (Isaiah 53:10) Since this prophecy referred to God's son Jesus Christ, why did it delight him to 'crush' him?

We should remember that in challenging Jehovah’s sovereignty, Satan cast doubt on the loyalty of all of God’s servants in heaven and on earth. (Job 1:9-11; 2:3-5) Jesus, by remaining faithful to death, provided the perfect answer to Satan’s challenge. Thus, while Jehovah permitted Christ to be killed by his enemies, there can be no doubt that Jehovah suffered when he saw his chosen Servant being put to death. However, observing his Son’s absolute faithfulness brought Jehovah much delight. (Prov. 27:11) Furthermore, knowing the benefits that his Son’s death would bring to repentant humans brought Jehovah great joy. Luke 15:7
How could Jehovah possibly take delight in seeing this faithful servant crushed? Clearly, Jehovah did not personally inflict suffering upon his dear Son. Jesus’ enemies were fully responsible for what they did to him. But Jehovah permitted them to act cruelly. (John 19:11) For what reason? Surely the God of empathy and tender compassion was pained to see his innocent Son suffer. (Isaiah 63:9; Luke 1:77, 78) Jehovah was certainly not displeased in any way with Jesus. Even so, Jehovah took delight in his Son’s willingness to suffer because of all the blessings that would result from it.
In the OT many prophecies were told of Christs coming. Christ HAD to die for us, sinless. Crushing him so to speak. He was beaten in a manner that would have killed him to begin with. We never think of that aspect of it though. When Jesus died, he was crushed. Fulfilling the many prophecies about him, he rose again in the 3rd day. Jesus was faithful to his Father, Jehovah God. Therefore He found delight in His Son's accomplishment.
Satan on the other hand is not.
It is like a gas: the more it is compressed (in the text, crushed) the more it will expand (in the text, prolong). Just so, some men conquer more because they have suffered more.
Because Jesus' death was what freed all of us from the consequences of sin. His torture and death was the ultimate sacrifice that paid for all of humanity's sins. With all that paid for, it gave us, the people he loves, the opportunity to get into heaven because he took all the wrath he'd ever feel and placed it on his son. This left us free of it, and put us on equal ground with Christ in Jehovah's eyes--perfect and sinless
His faithful servant brought salvation to mankind!
