Let's start with the facts, stock markets have done well under Democrats previously so there is no reason to suspect that the markets would look negatively on Democrats being in power again. Furthermore, the immediate reaction of the stock market to the democratic election was to go up. Finally, the volatility has been constant this entire year.
These specific downturn of the last few days seems connected to Trump's incoherent trade policy on China. The market Rose when he announced an apparent deal but then fell again when it became clear that his deal was a loser e and the US arrested a Chinese executive.
