Long distace can work, it just takes alot of trust and patence, all you gotta ask yourself is can you trust him when your not with him?

Is there no way that maybe he could move to your hometown ?

I've been in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for 6 months . Its been very good. Actually i think its kind of better than actually being with them. I say this because He would want to be with you more . The only con here is ; trust issues . But if you're very in love with each other this wont be a problem.

If u both truly love and care about eachother and can be faithful then of course they can work. It'll be hard. The least u can do is try and if it doesn't work then it doesn't work. But as long as u both are on the same page in ur relationship I dnt see why u 2 couldn't make it work. Good luck!
