I just bought and about to bring back now 2 15” 2000w lanzar max pro subs (I know it sounds like a bad brand) but I only have a 950w amp I did have a pretty small box but it was ported I dont get how 950w blows 2 subs ”supposedly” capable of handling 2000w but here are the subs http://www.electotronics.com/lanzarmaxp154dmaxpros...

Ok i will try to explain this as simply as i can.. stick with me i think you will find it interesting and informative ( i hope).
First off ignore MAX ratings no mater what the brand. RMS is the values you want to compare.
secondly distortion can blow a speaker even if the "wattage" is not being met. See distortion causes a constant sin wave that allows heat to build up, and ultimately cause a thermal failure. Running more power without distortion with a smooth sound-wave will actually run cooler than a lower powered distorted one.
So i believe your issue is 2 fold - first look at the RMS power and see if the kenwood is still considered lower power than the subs. that 950w - 2000W max may be 500 - 350 RMS...
Secondly do not run the amp above its rated RMS power. Distortion will heat up the sub. and understand distortion is present waaaay before you hear it. if you hear distortion, then you are likely overworking the subs, regardless what brand they are.
Hope that helps.
UPDATE:
Greg what the hell are you talking about?! Who said they blew because they were underpowered? it wasn't me... i said distorted power is more harmfull than clean power and that my friend is fact. also i sugested to run the amp at no more than its rated power, and not over drive it. A amp it can produce more power than the rated specs. Specs on the spec sheet are a snapshot of what the amp can do... raise the distortion level, and the wattage rating will likely be able to be higher. likewise on many amps if the wattage rating was lowered the THD could also be lowered... these are all facts my friend.
But you know dont believe me look at this link for yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipping_(audio)
Go down to the section on the effects of clipping.
here is another link, same story

People if you dont know what your talking about, dont take a factually statement from past post and use it inapropriatly. this place is a place to help people not throw around a bunch of BS to try and sound smart.
You didn't blow them because they were under powered, this myth needs to go away. Let's assume the subs have an RMS rating of 1000W, about half max is normal. So each sub was getting about 475W, even if the amp was clipping like hell you would never be able to produce enough heat to fry the voice coils. I'd bet you did not have the low pass filter set and the subs unloaded on you.
It's simple. Lanzar lies about its equipment. Those "2000 watt" subs will really handle around 300 watts rms if you are lucky.
