I'm not sure that it'll be like shooting a Mockingbird but it will hurt Boo because has been extremely accustomed to being a loner. Sudden publicity could give him a shock and be really uncomfortable. It's like being thrown in front of an audience and expected to give a speech you never prepared for.
Oh I remember reading this book. It would be like shooting a mocking bird because, well, remember what Miss Maudie said? She said: "Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy . . . but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird." If I remember correctly, (haven't read it in years) this relates to Boo Radley because of their innocents. It's a sin to kill a mocking bird because they are innocent and only try to do good (by singing songs) and Boo Radley was an innocent boy who had been wronged by many, including his father. A mocking bird is innocent and sings songs meant for us to enjoy. Killing one is a sin because you are taking away it's innocents though it has done no wrong. Boo Radley had saved the children and, because he was locked up, he still held the innocents of a "child." Turning him in would only punish him for his innocents.
In other words,
Mocking bird sings because it is innocent and does not harm = Boo Radley saved the children in the way that he did because he is innocent. Killing a mocking bird is murdering innocents = Turning Boo Radley in is forsaking him because of his innocents, both of which, are sins. Like the mocking bird, he should be free.
