How to solve Σ for statistic class?
My statistics for behavioral science teacher gave me a sheet...
Something like this
If X= 5 8 3 7 and Y= 8 2 4 1
Solve the following:
a. ΣX+Y
b. ΣX²
c. (ΣX)²
I don't get it at all please help!

Σ means that you are adding everything that comes after it.
a. Σ(X+Y) = (5+8) + (8+2) + (3+4) + (7+1) = 13 + 10 + 7 + 8 = 38
b. Σ(X²) = 5² + 8² + 3² + 7² = 25 + 64 + 9 + 49 = 147
c. (ΣX)² = (5 + 8 + 3 + 7)² = 23² = 529
