So the father of my child decided to sue me for attorney fees and joint custody after putting him on Child support.
I have to respond within 30 days. He has a Lawyer. I have a Lawyer as well, I paid the retainer fees and my Lawyer should be filing the response and sending it off to his Lawyer. It’s getting close to 30 days, how long would it take for his Lawyer to receive the response once it’s been filed?

Usually within about 10 days. And if the other person is parental fit and especially if the other person has children living with him and is married there's a very good chance that he'll get joint custody it won't stop his child support. But what will happen is he'll sue you for child support for the time that he has custody and you can play tiddlywinks with each other for the rest of your natural life you can pay him child support when he's got the kid and he can pay you child support when you've got the kid. And sooner or later the kid will make a choice who they want to live with.
If YOUR lawyer is doing what you pay them for, the plaintiff's lawyer should receive YOUR response long BEFORE the 30 days. If your lawyer hasn't responded within the 30 days, you FORFEIT the right to respond.
These things should be done by email. How fast is your lawyers' email?
If in the same city, probably a day or two at most if by mail.
WHERE? This isn't Federal or International law.
In MY State you can't put anyone on child support. Only a Judge can order child support. I don't know where you are that you order the support.
If the law says "respond within 30 days" in MY State it's 30 days PLUS an extra five allowing for mailing. However, more and more papers are exchanged via e-mail or e-filing.
I don't know if your State requires that your attorney file the response with the Court, get it date stamped and THEN forward it to opposing counsel OR if the law allows both to be "served" at the same time by mail or otherwise.
