Because the hysterical environmentalists believe that fossil fuel is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
and therefore they must raise the prices astronomically to force us to buy electric cars that catch fire and shiver in the dark when we can't heat our homes. I wonder when someone will point out to him that the world's entire plastics industry depends on crude oil, too...
It doesn't. But being for the keystone pipeline doesn't lower gas prices significantly either. The pipeline is an EXPORT pipeline, in other words the oil and gas it carries is bound for places outside the US, such as china. Rather than dramatically effecting the gas market here at home, it instead will only slightly lower gas prices, because its effect will be felt more on the global market, then on a smaller local market
First off we are importing less oil than we have in many years because the demand for fuel at the local level has dropped. Secondly, most of the U.S. crude oil comes from Canada. Thirdly, the XL pipeline would not have helped gasoline prices at the pump since we dont have a supply problem. That oil from tar sands in Canada, would be refined in Texas and sold to Asia.
Geo-political events is the reason indirectly for higher prices. The U.S. and Israel threatening to attack Iran, squeezing the economy of Iran by Europe and America putting Iran in a terrible situation for its people, the resulting Iranian move to pre-empt any strike or more sanctions by cutting off some European oil and American oil companies using all of this turmoil to raise prices. It is not a matter of supply, it is all what these activities represent and they all add to the instability of all countries involved.
AS A PERSON IN THE OIL INDUSTRY..... it would slightly lower the gas price. little known facts
- the saudis drive the price up for profit because they are running out of oil and fast
- china RUNS off diesel generators they eat up tons of oil
- obama just spent billions so ARGENTINA can sell OIL to CHINA not AMERICA
- oil drilling is safe, very safe, it can be made safer, the media just blows it up.
- america has enough oil under our own feet to keep us going for 100's of years.
- most of our oil comes from CANADA AND MEXICO (how does saudi oil then effect us? ill get to that next)
- oil companies are corrupt(mainly saudis), work under the table agovernmentspay off goverments and other companies to raise prices. thus ******* everyone over for profit.
- 99% is bullshit. besides oil CEOs look out for the peopleMediaont let the meidia fool you. we pay just as much in taxes some one else. the tax systom is fu<ked though with many loop holes. us mega millionaries pay alot but how the media portrays it it comes out wrong. if i make 100 million next year i will pay arround 40-60% of that to the goverment depending on the state i live in and if i decide to put it in a bond or be payed in stock. bottom line. oil companies are the evil ones expeshialy the saudis.... in venisulia desil is arround 5 cents a gallon. hope you now really see what its like... welcome to the real world. a corrupt one.
The keystone pipeline was shipping oil overseas, not to the US.
This isn't just a demcratic issue. Just yesterday, the tea party, OWS, and hundreds of Paris, Texas farm and land owners rallied to protest against transcanada forcibly trying to take their land via eminent domain. Remember when your party used to oppose the government forcibly taking people's private land for public use? Now you want to give it away to a foreign company. How times have changed.....
Why is Obama campaigning on our oil reserves, asserting that it will shrink down gas expenditures? "all persons want decrease gas expenditures yet maximum people comprehend that liberating our oil reserves gained't reason expenditures to be shrink back. As all of us recognize, oil is offered on a international marketplace at marketplace expenditures so this oil from our reserves will do no longer something to diminish expenditures. If reality this oil will be shipped out of modern Orleans besides".
You do realize that there already is an operating keystone pipeline, and what was recently and temporarily rejected is a specific modification to that existing pipeline?
The potential for environmental disasters. And do we really trust a foreign government's word on cheaper gas for Americans? I think they are using it as a way to get their oil to other markets via our heartland.

There is no relationship since the oil that would be coming through that pipeline is intended for China.

I'd rather have clean drinking water than 5 cents off the pump.
Besides, Nebraska's governor, a Republican, asked for the route to be changed. Dems aren't the only opponents.
