When what is happening no longer hurts you or you no longer get upset there is nothing left to hold on to. As long as there is still hurt you still care on some level so you need to access if its enough to stay and try to work it out. It's an individual choice. There is no right or wrong answer to this.
You just know it. It's a lot like what Freud said. That for the little things in life we should react according to our reason. But for the really big decisions, we should heed what our unconscious tells us.( Yes. i have been reading Oliver's Story :P). that's what i always do since i suck at making decisions.depend on my gut instinct. Of course, that has gotten me into trouble many a times. But in the end, somehow it works out.not sure about what i will do in such 'serious' matters like marriage and divorce ( i shouldn't have answered this question) but letting go includes Acceptance of a failure you know, in a graceful manner. Some people just walk away from their marriages, go into denial. That's bad. But whatever,Don't Cheat! Ever.
That as well depends on what you are speaking of and just what that something really means to you. Only you can honestly answer this, not someone else as only you know your own heart the best.

All the best :)
I presume you are talking about a relationship with this question. When you have had enough & can't take any more that is the time to let go.

when you begin asking questions like this, then it's probably time to let go.
