Given that most of the regulars have high IQ’s,…?
Someone posted a question remarking on the high IQ's (or purported high IQ's) of most of the people in this Forum.
Does that mean that people with high IQ’s like to go to Forums like this to have a place to discuss intelligent issues of the day? I’m not saying all of our subjects (or our posters) are intellectual, but most intellectuals tend to want to discuss the issues of the day with other people who have something intelligent to say, even if it is the opposing viewpoint.

Never have I met a dumb person who enjoys discussing intelligent issues of the day. However, I know plenty of intelligent people who enjoy discussing dumb issues of the day, just to relax.
I read an article somewhere that said people both men and women tend to think they are smarter than they actually are. EDIT//////// I just remembered, I saw a program on the science channel that showed IQ tests only measure a small part of somebodies real intelligence.
I'd like to agree that answering questions well is a good use of one's intelligence. I spend (or waste) my time on Y!A because I live alone and don't have someone to talk with.
This comes in second to having a life, but it is better than nothing. I have learned about a few subjects, as well, and I have connected with some as email pals.
It could be worse.

To me, IQ has nothing to do with it. I like reading other people's answers and I ask questions sometimes and give answers. I enjoy the site. I enjoy the fun questions too.
My IQ compels me to visit a LOT of categories on this site.
I don't know that the IQ here is, overall, higher than other categories.
I usually visit this site to bash trolls, rather than to engage in worthwhile discussion (this isn't a discussion site, it's a question and answer site, btw).
What's so great about commenting here on yahoo answers site is everyone gets to see our intelligent answers.

Mafia Girl, you are very intelligent, unfortunately you have very bad self esteem to even think a dummy mouth louse like Ronnie is perfect. By the way, I am not a troll and I never did say I was god, in my Adam and Eve question which was removed by Yahoo.
I find it to be a wonderful forum for sharing knowledge with a population of people who appreciate it without becoming defensive or intimidated by it.
I also find it refreshing to read well-written answers with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It's a relief to see there are a few of us who paid attention in school and seek others who did the same.
I think you're right. My career is heavy on creativity, patience, and physical work - I'm a SAHM. So to relax, I love to do logic puzzles, read non-fiction books, and come to this forum, all of which exercise my brain a bit more than changing diapers!
That people who post in forums have high IQ's does not mean that people who have high IQ's like to post in forums.
I know someone who has a very high IQ and I think this forum would bore her to tears....so perhaps it could have more to do with personality than intelligence level...
