f(y) = y + √y Find the derivative of the function using the definition of derivative?

You are given the following function.

f(y) = y + √y [also can be written as f(y) = y + sqrt (y)]

(a) Find the derivative of the function using the definition of derivative.

Cannot Figure this one out, any help before 12:00 Tonight would be helpful

Update:

Do you mean it to be written out like this

f'(y) = y + (1/2) * y^(-1/2) * y

or

f'(y) = y + (1/2) * y^((-1/2) * y)
