I’ve started narrowing down the career paths that I would want to do for the rest of my life, and I’ve decided that it’s a toss up between me getting a Ph.D in mathematics or me getting rich through “other methods”. Which choice do you think is the right one? Pleas give genuine, sincere answers, no troll answers, there’s enough idiots on these forums as it is, thx please

If you want to teach math full time at the college level,, a PhD might be helpful in getting a job. Otherwise, probably not. And a college full time professor makes decent money, but isn't rich.
I wouldn't because mainly that time has passed me by and I was not that good in math, when it got to geometry that was my end
I considered it once about 20 years ago. I read that a person with a Ph.D in mathematics spends more time on trying to get funding than on doing math. This is why I did not do it.
My son has a PhD in Physics in the Uk. Because of his logical thinking skills he was offered masses of jobs. Banking, Actuary, Trading etc.
He went for IT and now earns a great deal of money coding.
It’s all those damn college classes.
I like the challenge of mathematics.
Cons-I am broke it don't pay well
Not too many career opportunities in mathematics
I would say do the phd in maths. As ok see you attain it, it is much easier to get high paid jobs. Even though there are many people worth phd's it will give you huge advantage for when applying for jobs.
