About 30 of them the last 3 days coming from my AC/Heating vent in my kitchen.
Obviously there is an opening from outside somewhere but how do I figure out where?
Took a walk outside and didn’t see anything.

don't bother ... just take the cover off and install a bit of ordinary window screening
Perhaps it was night-time when you walked outside, which could explain why you didn't see anything. Try walking outside during the day; this could produce really good "seeing" results. Alternatively, (a) your eyes could have been closed without you knowing it, (b) you looked at the wrong spot, or (c) you've gone fly-blind, a quite common condition which results in people not seeing flies. Hope this helped.
If the holes are not readily visible, what I would do is:
1) Re-caulk around all vent work on the outside of the house, pressing and smoothing the caulk into any voids or cracks larger than 1/16 inch. Sometimes you have to press on the parts to see of they are allowing movement and caulk or secure them if need be.
2) go under the house or into the basement and do the same thing where the vent comes into the house from the AC.
3) Pull up the vent cover in the kitchen and use a shop vac to vacuum as far in as you can. If the flies are coming up just in the Kitchen, there may be something down there that is attracting flies FROM the kitchen which then lay eggs in the vent.
Lastly, if this does not cure things, I'd look into scoping the vent areas to see what might be down there. It's always possible that some rodent got into your vents and died, which attracts files and gnats. The shop vac may take care of this too.
