I was doing a water change for my 10 gallon tank and now my Marineland filter won’t start! I’ve already primed it with tank water, made sure the filter was actually plugged in, and made sure nothing was clogged. What do I do?
I would take it apart to get to the impeller, clear out the area, clean it, try it again. It may be the magnet like others have said, you can call marinland customer service they are very helpful, might even send you a part if you need it. They did for me.

1. Any filter that doesn't restart has either a dirty impeller or the motor coil is failing and the filter needs to be replaced.
2. "magnet might need a little help so spin it manually and that might get it spinning"
No, if you don't get the filter to operate correctly, replace it.
If it starts, but won't restart after being unplugged it's not trustworthy.
(Use the dirty wet filter materials and the bio wheel in the new filter)
3. Make sure the tank water level is high enough
Check that the impeller is clear, installed correctly with the rubber bushings (if used)
Check the cover and how the intake tube is installed.
Try to restart it with water filling the compartment.
If it didn't start, throw the wheel in the tank so it stays wet until you get the new filter set up, or get the filter running.
The magnet might need a little help so spin it manually and that might get it spinning.
