Help me and you will save me from math....please help!!
Find the next three terms of the arithmetic sequence ¼, 1/3, 5/12, 1/2, ...
+ 1/12 (add one twelth)
1/4 = 3/12
1/3 = 4/12
5/12
1/2 = 6/12
next three: 7/12, 2/3 (= 8/12), 3/4 (= 9/12)
Hope that helps, good luck.
You need to find the least common denominator to figure this out. In this case, the LCD is 12, so the sequence actually goes like this: 3/12, 4/12, 5/12, 6/12... So, the answer is B: 7/12, 2/3 (= 8/12), 3/4 (= 9/12)
when you change these so they have a common denominator, they read: 3/12, 4/12, 5/12, 6/12
so the next 3 would be: 7/12, 8/12 (2/3), 9/12 (3/4)
7/12, 8/12 (2/3), 9/12 (3/4)
common difference = 1/3-1/4 = 1/12
7/12, 2/3, 3/4
It gets bigger by 1/12 each time.
