Wow, everyone has these questions today. However, I just took my test on this...
Alright.
Since X is squared, you need to divide it up. You'll also need the factors of 4 (2 & 2, 1 & 4). We'll use 1 & 4 since 5 can come out of that. Since the rules state that when the problem is -/+, you need to change the signs. Your problem now has all subtraction.
(x - 1)(x - 4)
Next, FOIL it.
x2 (first terms)
x & 4 (outer terms)
x & 1 (inner terms)
1 & 4 (last terms)
However, since you originally started with -/+, bring that back:
x2 - 4x + 1x - 5
Your final answer should be:
x2 - 5x - 5
I really hope this is the right answer. My teacher told me the middle term (in the case 5) must be negative. If you rewrite subtraction after x2, the 5x becomes negative. If it's not the right answer, I apologize.

at the start of each bracket is gona be an x
(x ) (x )
thn u have to find two numbers which times together to give +4 nd add up together to give -5
(x - 4) (x - 1)
x ²-5x+4 = x ²-x - 4x+4 = x(x-1)-4(x-1) = (x-4)(x-1)
