It is the same as (6x^2)/y^3 ... then put x=4 and y = -2 and find

(6*16)/(-2)^3 = 6*16/-8 = 6*(-2) = -12 ... The correct answer is A. OK!

Remember: x^2 means x*x, y^-3 means 1/y^3.

6 x^2 y^(-3) = 6 (4)^2 / (-2)^3

Another thing to keep in mind: when we write maths, the order in which we do things is BIMDAS.

That's Brackets, indices (powers and square roots), multiply, divide, add and subtract, in that order.

So first figure out (-2)^3 = -2*-2*-2 = -8.

Then work out 4^2 = 16.

Then the answer is 6*16/(-8) = -12.
