It's really hard for me to choose between 2 of those. I really like both Julian and Lucian. I don't care as much for Dorian. i think it's the 'DOOR' sound that bothers me.
Julian is such a great name! i have loved this name since HS. I had a friend named Julian. He was tall and very athletic, a total guys guy which i suppose is what made the name so masculine and strong for me. it's one of my favorite J names for boys.
Lucian is so romantic and whimsical! it's almost Lucas but fancier lol. Lucas is my favorite boys name, so liking Lucian is easy. the only thing that puts me off a bit is the -lucy- sound in it. other than that though, it's a darling name and has a special place on my GP list.
i think...after writing my opinions about them i can choose one now. I will have to go with Julian!
it's a well rounded name, not too fussy or overly trendy. it's modern sounding though a nice classic traditional name, under used and cute. it will age well and sound really great on an adult man. Jules is a common nickname, but i like the idea that Ian could be a nickname as well (as i think it would age better than Jules). yep...Julian is the best. :)
Dorian: I love the name. It immediately makes me think of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, and while he isn't the most admirable character, I love the unusual aspect of the name and the classic literary vibe. I have on my own list as Dorian Walter. 10/10
Julian: I like Julian, but I personally prefer Julius. Julian feels a bit more modern than Julius, as well as a lot more common. I love the possible nickname Jude, though I might consider using Jude on its own before using Julian. 8/10
Lucian: Lucian definitely gives me an exotic feel when I think of who I picture with the name. I think it would take a certain type of person to pull off the name, perhaps more so than with the other two names that you have here. I think I prefer the female name, Lucienne, to Lucian. 7/10
I'm not really fond of any of them, but Julian seems the most "normal". Lucian reminds me of Lucifer or Lucy Ann, and Dorian is the name of a man/woman I know before and after he/she had a sex change. I know there are many other Dorian's but the name sounds to me like someone who is confused. I think all 3 of those names have a feminine edge to them, and might work for a guy who is creative or artsy, but would sound strange on a manly-man.
I can't get it out of my head that Lucian feels kind of evil. Yes, I know it's not Lucifer, but the sound association is strong for me. So Lucian is my least favorite.
I'm torn between Dorian and Julian. I have a thing for three-syllable boys' names, and I like both of these. Julian is a huge favorite (and if it weren't so darned popular in my state, it might very well have ended up as my son's name) -- but I have met several little Julians recently, and I'm the sort of person who is turned off by that.
Dorian feels a bit more pretentious. Don't literary names always? And I say that as one who LOVES literary names and gave my son a name that many find pretentious. I like that Dorian is different. It's dashing. It's handsome. It's sophisticated. But, along with Atticus and Holden, it sort of screams, "I gave my baby a name from a book! I'm educated!" (And I gave my baby a name from history! I'm educated, too!)
My gut reaction is to go with Julian, as it sounds very pleasant, affable, and approachable. Everyone would like a kid called Julian. My cool name nerd side says to go with Dorian, as it's infinitely more interesting.
I love them all equally, but Dorian seems just slightly feminine to me (not a totally bad thing). I do know a girl named Dorian tho so maybe thats why. Julian seems like an athletic rugged name, and Lucian seems more artsy and creative.
I personally like Dorian. I've used that name for a fictional character (not as an alias though). I has a certain elegance, flow, and high class to it, but not like snobby. Julian (in my own personal opinion and experience!) sounds hispanic. Lucian is ok too, but I just really like Dorian.
Dorian would always make me think of the t.v. show Scrubs, because one guy's name was John Dorian. And Lucian makes me think of a guy from Harry Potter. So I like Julian.

Lucian. It's a cool name and I've never liked Dorian or Julian.
Out of those three, I prefer Julian.

I prefer Lucian over Julian and Dorian.
Lucian is more unusual, and Dorian looks kind of incomplete. I like Adorian much better :)
