It does to an extent (though it is more so the media than society at large). It is not the sole cause of anorexia, as there are a lot of other factors, but it doesn't help. A lot of anorexia is a search for control in one's life, the need to be perfect, etc. Some do find the pressure's of society to be daunting and a heavy burden to carry. Some try to fit those standards and take it to the extreme. They get so obsessed and thus anorexia happens. Though throughout their process it might have been a diet or ideal body image that started it all, but it is not the entire reason someone is anorexic.
If you want to add some evidence about what is happening to help control society's promotion of the "thin ideal", you can look up the proposed NEDA/Off Our Chests Media and Public Health Act. I gave a speech on that last spring. Here's a press release: http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/in-the-news...
Women's fashion industry promotes that idea; not Society.
There are other proponents out there who urge people to eat fast-food; others advertise their cars as status-boosters and others suggest that spraying some chemicals on your body will make you sexually irresistible to good-looking females.
If women are so sensitive and prone to advertising, that is their responsibility, not "Society's"

No. Throwing up and eating far less than the body needs to thrive is the only thing that leads to anorexia.

Sorry, but the answer is NO. Anorexia is a psychiatric disorder. You don't catch it like a cold. It's because you are crazy that you are anorexic
No, actually it has more to do with self loathing, lack of inner development, and feelings of powerlessness.
Sorry to not be helpful but I hate "assignments" where the teacher tells you what stance you need to take.
Only anorexic people themselves believe that to be the ideal form.
