We’ve been flirting for weeks. He called me up and we hung out last Sunday. We had a great time, and he called me two days later to do it again Friday night, but he had to cancel on me last minute due to family issues. We tried to reschedule, but I’m always so busy, so we didn’t set up another day. However, he did tell me to call him anytime I have nothing to do because he does nothing but work (he just moved into town about a month ago, so he doesn‘t know very many people and he isn‘t going to school this semester). I was bummed that I didn‘t get to see him, but he came to visit me at work the next day on his day off (we work at the same place). I kinda made a fool of myself (as I sometimes do when I’m around him… I get so nervous) but he just smiled in this way that he does, like he can see right through my attempts to act cool.

I thought he was into me, at least just a little, but now I’m not so sure. Today he treated me like we were acquaintances, and I got little more than a hello from him while at work. He was going on break as I was clocking off, and I wanted to go and sit with him and chat while he ate, but I hesitated. What if he doesn’t like me any more? I convinced myself that his interest in me had faded to nothing and left without saying anything more to him. On my way home, I wondered if maybe he was waiting for me to come and sit with him? Like he would sometimes do if I was on break.

The question I’m actually asking is, does he want me to be assertive every now and again? I’m so painfully shy that I often refuse to put myself out there, but maybe he wants me to? Like, to reassure him that I do like him? Is that possible? Should I call him, or wait until we work together again?
