You're probably asking about his 'prime objective.'
Manson was never anything more than a hustling, conniving, very manipulative person who was severely abused when he was young. He developed his twisted 'philosophy' by the seat of his pants, day by day, as the circumstances around him warranted, and assisted with liberal doses of LSD for his adherents. He is a homosexual, a drug user, convicted murderere, who to this day will not admit to the crimes he was convicted of (even after 36 years in prison!!!) nor any that he was never charged with (murders, robberies, rapes, etc.)
His latest kick is "ATWA" --Air, trees, water, animals. He claims to be concerned for all of them, and thinks that our present lifestyle is endangering all of them.
As far as his message of Helter Skelter--it was so vague and convolutred that no one understood what he really meant, or wanted or intended..
Charles Manson felt like he wanted to be the one in power, he assumed he was God's Gift. Manson thought he could predict the future and got together a bunch of followers and called them "The Family." He plotted murders and tried to spread his kind of religion because he wanted to feel like he was worth something. His beliefs appeared to be in tune with good intentions, but in fact, it was driven with cruel ones. He was obsessed with death. Manson could have used his power in more beneficial ways and helped people instead of harming them.
