In an interview Finch said, “It is always a great atmosphere and a pleasure to play here. I think although they can be quite parochial at times, it is always good fun, they sing some good tunes out there.”
I don’t think he knows what parochial means and has misused the term. This is common with Aussies though who seem to speak English as a second language. Maybe most lessons are taught in Mandarin in Australian schools, I’m not sure.

I understand that sodomy is disgusting.
Anybody who flies to Australia becomes Australian?
Fun fact. Some people from the U.K comes here to do the English courses. Explain that?
Parochial means to do with a parish but figuratively, as Finch used it, it means "pertaining or confined to a narrow area or domain; narrow, provincial." He used it in the "provincial" sense and as that definition comes from the OED, it can't get more English than that.
Perhaps we Australians understand and speak English better than you do...
yes I do it indicates a low level of education
every one I speak to speaks English ..most australians speak very good English./
What is the problem - parochial in this context means biased towards one side, they cheer one side and boo the other, the term seems appropriate, but perhaps to be on the safe side he should confine his adjectives to words of 2 or 3 syllables, cant expect the fans to be diving into the dictionary for a translation.
Who is Finch, and who is he calling "parochial"? Australian English is, of course, derived from the English spoken by the convicts who were deported there. Like the English, they refuse to pronounce r's, which is very annoying- what do they think the letter is doing there in the word? But otherwise, they seem to know as much vocabulary as anyone else.
