I think over time the point of rap and hip hop got a little foggy. What I think it is (or should be) is a medium through which a message is communicated. It's such a direct type of music, (because it's all about the words) which is why i think it was so effective in getting messages across during all the rough times the hoods and minorities were seein (and still are) and it was so strong and influential because it was just born right out of it all, and you had people like Pac spittin the truth and it was so real. But i guess that was like the golden lyrical rapper era. Now it's so cosmetic (made for the sake of appearance) talkin about bein famous or hittin this girl or that club....BS to me. But, they will always experiment with the sounds, that's just the nature of the beast. It'll change and morph into something else over time, maybe even go back to how it was. Techno does have a lot of repetitive beats that make it easy to form raps around and spit to tho...but idk. Its all about the sound now, not the content. Some are exceptions tho. idk this is just from whitey's perspective.
OFWGKTA - "The Dark Odd Future Age of Rap"
the only people who can take rap out of its critical condition is artists like saigon who are trying to uplift the community, odfwgkta is destroying hip hop more than it already was. We all need to support saigon, and artists alike, because the record labels wont give them a chance cuz they dont sell enough for their standards.
OFWGKTA? thats whats bringin hiphop/rap down. that garbage ****
You gotta be kidding me..right?
