Strangely enough, there have been studies that indicate that certain brain structures react more to religious concepts. Certain parts of the parietal lobe tend to activate during prayer, and there has been documented similarities between religious experiences and episodes of epilepsy. So, I wouldn't really be surprised if we eventually find that certain people have a predisposition to getting involved with religion more than others. But still, a predisposition isn't a certainty, and environmental factors and individual choices certainly have something to do with it, as well.
No, because most people believe what their parents taught them. But then there are the people who actually have the ability to think for themselves and outside the box, stop following the crowd off a cliff, and come to realize that many religions are just another method of control and make zero sense when you truly think about them.
Being left-handed or right-handed is a result of our genetic make-up. There is no evidence that religious beliefs are part of our genetic make-up. It is the result of personal CHOICE.
Yes. An example are autistic people. Nobody chooses to be autistic, it's something you're born with. There's many studies that show that autistic people are a lot more likely to be non-believers than non-autistic people.
