I asked a “Political” question earlier today, but forgot to place blame on any “Political Party” – do ya think if I had placed blame on one party or the other, my question would have been noticed?
Or do “real issues” not count?

I find most people don't want to read long questions. But, you may be right in your assessment.
"Subject..", you received 3 good answers to your question, so why are you upset? Many times I get only 1 or even no answer to my questions.
Also, I think you may be missing the point of prisoners working. It is not to save money on "cheap" labor because it's more expensive to have guards standing watch over 3 inmates working on a job than it would be to hire outside laborers. And don't forget that while these prisoners are locked up the State taxpayers (you and me) are paying for their meals, medical care, room and board, any classes they may want to attend while "inside" and computer classes! Hardly classifies as "free/cheap labor".
By the way, if they don't get the above (what is classified as
"minimum" comforts and "rights" our friends at the ACLU and other liberal leaning goody-goody organizations will cry that these prisoners are being mistreated. They lose sight of the concept that prison is a punishment; the offender is removed from normal society, his (or her) actions monitored and infractions against the rules of the institution are immediately addressed. It's not a nice place to visit or a health spa or a retreat--it is place law abiding people do not want to go to.
The whole idea of a prison work program is to give the inmates something to:
1) keep them busy and out of mischief (like plotting escape or prison riots)
2) to tire them out by the end of the day so they don't make trouble
3) to keep them physically fit and reasonably healthy
4) to get some discipline into their lives. Most of the inmates haven't a clue as to how to be responsible or how to hold down a steady job. Most of them are in prison because they've never been held accountable for their actions and don't respond well to discipline and authority. They are ANTI-social misfits.
Of course you have to have intelligent guards and wardens for the whole thing to work they way it's supposed to and it looks like someone really dropped the ball in this case. Hope there's a thorough investigation
Most YA answers are just political relief, not real answers.
YA has been known to censor some questions from showing up so maybe that might be the problem.
Hey at least I starred it, I wanted to see what people would say too. I have no idea how much it would cost us to hire workers. They would probably hire a contractor if they didn't have prisoners do the work.
That's most likely the reason--more often than not, this is just a partisan bashing ground. And in answer to your other question--what they heck were they thinking? Solution--Maricopa County.
