Depreciation is merely an accounting term. It does not mean that the equipment that has depreciated to zero has no useful value. And it does not mean that the company has the reserves or the cash flow to replace fully depreciated items if necessary.

Depreciation is the normal expired life of an asset - and decreases that asset
value at regular intervals (usually once a year) this is the only purpose
It has absolutely nothing to do with resources to replace the asset at the end
of it's economic life -
Depreciation is merely an accounting term. It does not mean that the equipment that has depreciated to zero has no useful value. And it does not mean that the company has the reserves or the cash flow to replace fully depreciated items if necessary.
