I'm learning french and i already know some of the definitions of these words. The problem is that i know them in spanish i can't make the differences between words like ´depuis´ ´dès´ and stuff like. So i'll like to know them in english.

PRES et AUPRES sont synonymes. AUPRES leaves a feeling of closeness like NEAR in English.
AUPRES de la riviere, je pense mieux.

Puisque= because or since. (Puisque j'étais dans le coin je suis passé chez-toi. "Because I was in the area, I dropped in at your house.")
Près= close, in a physical sense. (Proche refers to closeness in relationship.)
après= after
auprès= near/towards.
presque= almost
depuis= from (from a given place or time.) "Depuis 6 ans j'essaie de faire du pain." 'I have tried to make bread for 6 years." (From six years ago, I have tried to make bread.)
dès= from (starting from a certain time onward). "Dès la première rencontre." From the first meeting on.
