What you are supposed to do is drink a bunch of water before you take the drink, then take the drink, refill it with water, and drink that. After that you should urinate at least 2 times. You will be clean an hour after you take the drink, and up to 4 or 5 hours after that. On the day you take the drink you should not eat anything for best results.

The days before the test you should be eating a healthy, non greasy diet and drinking plenty of water. Exercise helps too, but do NOT exercise on the day of the test.
