Can someone please help me figure this out? -14.81 + 13.9v = 14.2v – 13.04?
Every time I come up with a different answer!?!? Can someone explain and show the work/ with answer? Thank you soo much! Been working on it for at least a half an hour!
Insert v = -5.9 into the original equation. When you then simply the equation, if you end up with an identity (same thing on both sides of the equal sign), then the value v = -5.9 is correct.

if you are hunting the value of v, I will do it this way:
13.9v-14.2v=13.04+14.81
-0.3v=-1.77
0.3v=1.77
v=1.77/0.3=5.9.
Hope I did no mistake by this + and -.
-14.81 + 13.9v = 14.2v – 13.04
Add -13.9v to both sides. (or subtract 13.9v)
-14.81 + 13.9v - 13.9v = 14.2v - 13.9v – 13.04
-14.81 = 0.3v – 13.04
Add 13.04 to both sides.
-14.81 + 13.04 = 0.3v – 13.04 + 13.04
-1.77 = 0.3v
Divide both sides by 0.3.
-1.77/0.3 = 0.3v/0.3
-5.9 = v
v = -5.9
CHECK:
Insert v = -5.9 into the original equation. When you then simply the equation, if you end up with an identity (same thing on both sides of the equal sign), then the value v = -5.9 is correct.
-14.81 + 13.9v = 14.2v – 13.04
-14.81 + 13.9(-5.9) = 14.2(-5.9) – 13.04
-14.81 - 82.01 = -83.78 - 13.04
-96.82 = -96.82
Therefore v = -5.9 is correct.
-14.81+13.9v = 14.2v -13.04
-13.9v -13.9v
-14.81=0.3v-13.04
+13.04 +13.04
-1.77=0.3v
/0.3 /0.3
-5.9=v
That what i got the answer. and if you want in fraction, then it will be -1.77over -0.3
-14.81 + 13.9v = 14.2v – 13.04
-14.81+13.04=14.2v-13.9v
-1.77=0.3v
v=-5.9
-14.81 + 13.04 = 14.2v - 13.9v
-1.77 = 0.3v
-5.9 = v
