A month ago I was able to audition for this play but I was not given much deta about the character. I went in anyway but I felt very uncomfortable. I guess I didn't show it since I was cast as the role. I ended up turning down the role. Can I still put this on my résumé that I did the role even though I didn't actually play it?

I don't think you should say you "did" the role - that might get you in trouble if they ask about it or look into it.
Instead, try wording it differently. Something similar to "was selected by audition for the role of <character's name> in <name of play>". This way you're not claiming that you actually played the role.
If you're concerned they might ask about it, then be prepared to respond in a positive way, like "I did win the audition but had to turn down the role for <some legitimate reason>" - but you only have to say this if they ask about it.
Good luck!
