I am planning to go to Québec in a couple of weeks and I badly wanted to go to Québec City but it's a bit more expensive and no direct flight goes there from San Francisco, California.
I wanted to go to Québec city because it's basically all French and Montréal is predominately English -_- I don't like that.
Also there's nothing to see in montréal.
Update:Québec City is better from what I've seen. Vieux Québec is more beautiful than Montréal and vieux montréal.

Montreal is 50:50 French:English speaking, although the English are in serious decline.
While Quebec City is well worth the visit (one of my favourite places in the whole country to visit), there is a lot to see in Montreal. It is a huge place after all - the largest city in Canada until very, very recently.
The Old Port is much like the old part of Quebec City, albeit smaller. There are enough gorgeous church buildings that you could spend an entire day just visiting them (I have). There is a great modern art museum - I don't like modern art, but, I like this museum. There is an old fort, a big amusement part, a zoo with native animals not far away, and, and, and.....
Just wandering around looking at the architecture is really fun. And, the biodome, the gardens... Lots to see in Montreal, and, lots of chances to speak French.
Montreal is not predominately English. Admittedly, almost half of the people in Montreal can speak English, but the only official language in the city of Montreal is French. No one will blame you for speaking French in Montreal.
And as for there being nothing to see in Montreal... have you ever been there? It's one of the most entertaining cities to be in in all of Canada.
you're kidding right?
Trust me, as I am Canadian, and have visited Quebec and Montreal MANY times.
Where on earth did u get the idea that Montreal is mainly English?!
Yes, MORE people speak English in Montreal, but not PREDOMINANTLY.
The ENTIRE province of Quebec is "basically all French"
And you're wrong. There is a TON of stuff to see in Montreal. Im surprised you think Quebec has more to see, because tourists usually visit Montreal instead. Most of all the attractions in Quebec are historical monuments. *snore*
Dont get me wrong though, both are beautiful cities.
Also, Gordon Ramsay opened his first Canadian restaurant in Montreal!!!
Stupid Americans. -__-
Montreal is a fascinating city with a whole lot of history. You have to check out the Isle of Man. As for speaking French, they speak French in Montreal.
@ person x - The official language of Montreal as well as the rest of Canada is both English and French.
If you know how to speak French, you can definitely speak it in Montreal. Go to any store or café and try. Often times, downtown, store owners may speak to you in English if they detect an accent or see that you are struggling. But that's only out of courtesy.
Downtown has a good mix of English and French. Almost every store owner will speak English. For French-exclusive areas, venture outside downtown a bit.
Montreal is not predominately English.
"nothing to see in Montreal"? Seriously dude? Nothing? Wow, you really need to rethink this. It's a great city to visit.
Predominately English speaking and nothing to see?? WOW have u ever been to Montreal??
i went to montreal before and they speak french and there is a lot to see in montreal.
How very rude and how very ill - informed. So get a bus to Quebec City.
