Poor, poor Senators - how do they manage it? They deserve a pay rise for all their hard work! My heart bleeds for them.
Update:He's no Wayne Rooney, lol. To say it's not easy to survive on €65,000 a year plus expenses of another €15,000/€20,000 is simply ridiculous.

I see no evidence that anyone in power is thinking of reducing their own salaries or cancelling their claims to expenses. They are happy to take money out of the pockets of pensioners and the lower paid, but regarding their own income, it is NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard).
I was listening today to someone on Liveline who witnessed the cavalcade arriving at Farmleigh - he said you could smell the money - and I well believe it. Even to watch them on TV, you can see that the majority are overfed.
Being in a privileged position, it becomes seen by the holder as an "entitlement". The trouble for us, the ordinary people, is that even if the senators and other public service figures retire, they will have half the current salary as a pension for the rest of their lives - at our expense. Wouldn't our ordinary pensioners be delighted to survive on €32,500 instead of the €10,400 or thereabouts they now get?
I'm surprised the Seanad is still going to be honest! We are not only pumping tax payer's money to give these people extortionate salaries, but to run the damn thing! I feel we could save a lot more money if we did that.(Although it would probably end up in the cabinet's pockets) better pick a pocket or two, indeed!
I can see where he's coming from. Wayne Rooney earns that much in one weekend.
he should try getting by on 10,000 euro a year never mind expenses like a lot of irish families do.
Damn. I'd love that salary!
